Who knows of any good rumours about where the're fishing? you know the sort, like the one about Papercourt having a 40 foot deep hole, with a JCB in the middle of it. There must be some more out there to chuckle about.
Wraysbury 1 has got an old VW beetle in it (or it used to have when I fished there!!!) and also nearly a Capri when I left the handbrake off once !!!! LOL
Black Park Lake between Slough and Iver was rumoured to have old WW II vehicles dumped in the middle of it. Funnily enough when they drained it a number of years back there was nothing there (surprised?). Caught my first Bream there..................... happy days.

Rumour has it the local chinese take away have hired Clive to catch Peking Duck.
Apparently there is a vast shortgage in his area and he fits the BILL. The local newspaper thinks they must be QUACKERS as all the DUCKING and DIVING could jeopardise local stocks.
The local duck community says they will keep a close eye on things via the WEB.

Chertsey's got a car in the shallow corner of the fishery ear to the motorway, probably nearly covered in silt now though as it has been in there for at least 25 years.
I've heard a big rumour that there's a baliff right in the deepest part of Chigboroughs small lake, only the top of his red hat can be seen.... know what I mean ...Brian! lol.

There is a place on the River Mole near Leatherhead that a WW2 bomb exploded... it's called the bomehole swim, it's about 50' deep, it has huge eels in it... rumour has it there is an eel in there that is over 10lb......

Knipton Reservoir near Grantham has been the venue of many long blank hours of pike fishing for me (and a few others!). But there is an eerie beauty about the place and a strange but calming atmosphere. If you are alone in the misty twilight you can hear the boat anglers in the distance asking for help in finding their way to the bank. However, no boats are allowed at Knipton ! It turns out that the water is "occupied" by the crew of a Wellington bomber that went down there in 1946, and when the water is low the tail does indeed emerge from the shallows at the inlet end. The lost souls of those airmen do not seem to be in despair, and they seem content to rest in the tranquil beauty of the valley that the old Victorian reservoir lies in...
Various lakes have rumours about them containing "deep 'oles" that when checked out are not true. When I first started fishing Theale 1 for pike in late 1975 another piker there tried to tell me there was a 50 foot deep hole in the centre of the lake. While as close to the dead middle as you could cast with the gear described below was in those days a good place to fish for the bigger pike, I checked the water out years later and couldn't find more than 15 feet depth ! I understand that if the seam of mineral RMC wanted to excavate went to 15 feet down, that and no more would be the depth of the lake...
11 foot Gerry Savage stepped up carp rod in dark red hollow glass, Mitchell 410 reel, 10lb line, 1oz bomb and a sprat legered on a home made wire trace. Home made bobbin indicators too. Seems like stone age gear now - but it worked...
