i wouldnt bother, use 15lb mono straight through.u dont need 3oz lead.i have never crack off on cast.u could free line or just enough lead 2 sink line,1oz i use ,the set up u are talkin u would need at least 45lb shock leader and at least 3lb test rod.u can get winter ticket on rmc. i have had good results on k1, theal, burghfield.i hope this is some help. power pro is the braid to go with top stuff 30,40lb or 50lb stuff will do the job
as for braid v's mono agrument try them both and see what you prefer, with briad you can feel everthing that is happening down there wether the pike is sat there with the bait in its mouth or turning to run, personly i like to feel whats happening down there

above said i use braid now for 60% of my fishing and that total isn't higher due to a braid ban on a water that i fish

Try Dinton Pastures, some really good snappers to be caught there. Can sometimes be difficult to locate but a good starting point would be around pegs 1,2,3. Day tickets available by coin machine

Frimley pits worth checking out too, Pit 1 and 3 have both done 30s in the past. I'm having a go at pit 4, only jacks so far, but a bit of the unknown

4 rods for £40, 2 for £20

Fished the bootleg last Sunday, Turned up late cos of the Rugby, went early cos of the Football. One fish approx 9lb within five mins, then nothing..........thought here we go, gonna bag up but not to be. As for the size of pike in Burghfield Ian is fairly sure it should throw up a Thirty soon (picked this up from a previous thread) due to the large bream shoals now showing.

i must admit the bootleg does look very fishy, looks really neglected a pukka bit of water for the pike, i may have a go for them next year seems a good place to start, loads of bankside snags to in that area.

a 30 certainly wouldn`t surprise me!

Gary i had a pike out of the BP last winter on a boilie. Was very thin and generally in poor condition.Had the length of a low double but was well down in weight.
Surprised to hear you say that there are a number of Pike in the BP.Dont know what there feeding on as i have never heard of any Bream/Roach captures from the lake
Saw a few small shoals of Perch back in the summer{about 2 inches long} in the margins but other than that nothing.

before the bluepool was turned into a special venue and stocked with carp,me and a number of pikers did ok,and last winter 2 pikers were plugin and they said they had a nunber of jacks and so low doubles on a previous session.so im goin on wot i have had and info given to me,i agree i have not seen skimers or roach eg food fish, like you only perch. i am goin to give it a go soon.i am able to fish during the week so i will give it a good go. i let u know how i get on.
