Can anyone tell me how much rain you have had up the green and if the river and relief are fishable.Hoping to get up there either friday evening or early saturday morning.

Yo Neil, as far as I can tell (been away the last two days) been reliably informed that we've had no rain here for a while, I think it was last weekend the last drop! As far as the river/relief go I've not got down there recently, perhaps one of the other lads can help? If I can get down there tomorrow I'll let you know.

took a long stroll round the fishery yesterday . havn't actually fished it but the river was running very nicely at a good level but quite clear. the relief channel was quiet but a large group of carp were "basking" in the sun with at least 15-18 fish in the group.all in all , it looked in fantastic nick . however , as i'm typing its just started raining but as i live 25 miles away , its hard to judge what its like at the river Paul c

Many thanks guys I'll keep an eye on the weather. It's along drive up there for me and if the heavens open the the weed coming down the channel will make it unfishable.Looks like I'll have to go and catch my first barbel on saturday.

Patchy thunderstorms here at the moment, one at Lakeside- Thurrock moving North at 9pm. Heavy rain but only for a short while.

I fished The Green last night Neil. There has been hardly any rain around Cheshunt in the past two weeks but the river looks good with just a hint of colour. I took a solitary barbel of 7 lb at about 8.20 p.m. but became frightened of approaching thunder and ran away about an hour later (the thunder storm never arrived).

It's looking good for your first barbel tomorrow. Will probably be a double too !! Best of luck sir.

It certainly was a double ( 2x 2lb ). Plus 2 others up to 5lb.

I should have brought the boss back one of those really wide brimmed hats from Mallorca.... that may have just kept the water off him... only just though /images/forum/icons/laugh.gif
