View Full Version : SANDHURST CLOSED FOR WEED TREATMENT
Please be informed that Viv has closed Sandhurst from Tuesday 12th August 6pm until Friday 15th August 9am to enable him to complete the weed treatment of the venue.
How did the treatment go?
Was it a partial weed clearance or a total chemical wipe-out?
Any catch reports since it opened this morning?
the weed treatment has occurred, and has certainly affected more than the 20% that was initially indicated (probably due to the gusty winds just after the treatment was applied...) - if you were to look at the lake now you'd think it'd all gone - however at the moment all its done is drop the weed down a foot or so below the surface - apparently it will all break down in about 3 weeks so expect things to potentially get a bit easier from then on - difficult to tell if the fishing has been directly affected at this moment as it's coincided with the weather changing but i did have a couple out in the early hours this morning....so it's certainly not been detrimental....
Cheers.....i don't fish there...i was just being nosy http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Hope it proves a success.
The main weedbed in the CP (infront of trumptens) dropped a couple of foot as water temperatures dropped after the cool nights starting mid week last week.....might be that that has happened and the 20% will still be accurate..... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It won't be easier to start with Funky, It'll be blowing around all over the place LOL.
Lew, all the weed has dropped, Endworks and Island/mid secret
Mad innit!!!! must be purely the water temp....

water temp still very warm though, especially the secrets margin, couldn't believe how warm it was still. What about light ????? less daylight hours now ???
I noticed a marked water temp reduction over that 5 day period on trummptens and the beach (in particular)
that's what we thought initially but apparently the weed should break down into silt/mush after 3 weeks so the situation of rafts of weed blowing around shouldn't be an issue.....
as for it just being the weed dropping naturally - fairly sure it's not that as the weed in the areas which weren't treated at all is still just about visible (albeit dropped a bit) whereas in the rest of the lake it really has disappeared from sight completely and on large areas of the lake you can now chuck out a marker to bring back dying brittle weed......

and what does the silt and mush break down into ....just watch the chain dont break and the dominos start to tumble ...messing with nature ...
you don't need to tell me that tcp - or any of the other bailiffs on sandy - we were quite happy with the weed there - the fish were all coming on nicely weightwise (very nicely in some cases.... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif) and it was certainly fishable if you thought about what you were doing just a little....
but hey it's not our lake...what rmc do with it is up to them...they've spent the money to develop it in the first place so from a strictly business point of view it's their risk...
