View Full Version : Abbots lake
Hi hope someone can help.what are the tench stocks like in Abbots,as i am thinking of getting a tkt to fish for them but i am getting conflicting reports on the venue.
cheers Gaz
Gaz i suggest you go down there for a walkabout and have a chat with the regulars who will be on there this weekend I would presume that they have had quite a few between them. I've only been fishing there for 18 months(for the carp)and had quite a few, they average about 5lb but the biggest i had went about 9+ but they do run into double figures.
Hope this helps.

Matey theres a plateau infront of the Birthday swim inbetween the island that if you put a bait on it then I didnt fail to catch a red eye the only problem was I wasafter the Carp.. Martin the Baliff told me about the hump I later found out that he new this was Tench terriotry and was windin me up Oh well... There must be a fair number of Tench in there as there were a few tench anglers down there last season so it must be worth it as there were lots of other places they could have gone... another place I allways used see them gaz was infront of the point swim very early morning in amongst the sticks.. Hope I was of some help..
Ps. the biggist I had was jst about 8lb

I can't really say what a couple of the guys have had I must leave that to them to announce when they finish in another 7 days, they have put in some serious time baiting up and working for there fish so I'll leave it to them, however flipper came out at 29lb on sunday,6 diferenet fish between 14lb-17lb,the bailiff kevin has had a bit of action but understandable is playing his cards close to his chest, the fish are showing all overthe place but they aint really getting there heads down, except in acouple of swims, nuff said

Unfortunateley no great news to report, Flipper came out at 29lb to a newcomer to the venue and Blind eye came out to Danny the Bailiff at 27lb, and Cornish Bob at 26lb 10oz who also had 3 pasties, typical of him though!!! Danny also had a 28lber.
Only two other 20's came out until this morning one a 25lb Common and one just over 20 a broken back common, about 14 low doubles upto 17 1/2, myself, I only had one and PaulM had 5 over our time over there but we feel that the best is yet to come as many of the fish that tend to show themselves at the start have yet to do so, it now seems just a matter of time, and for the weather to improve!!!
There has been plenty of people over there this season, lets just see if they stick it out instead of just staying for a couple of months like they normally seem to do!
Overall a rather dissapointing and very quiet 2 1/2 weeks, but plenty of time left, and a bit more work to do!! he he!!
Sorry to dissapoint you Ian we did hear that you were getting curious about what was going on there!! Hopefully something good to report soon!
