Iv heard about people catching carp on pop ups on two foot hook links in winter,i have tried this myself with no results,is this really worth doing.???????????????????????????.
strange you should ask,i had been meaning to do this for some time and after asking the lads i finally gave it a bash, and just 2 days ago i plucked a tasty 23 mirror,3 foot off the bottom glugged with strawberry zest and bright as hell,
i think it just being there aggrivates the fish into mopping it up
give it a bash, after all are the carp on the bottom in the winter anyway.
i tried it on a locall lake where the fish sat 2-3 foot below the top in about 6-7 feet in winter. you could see the sunny days i didnt perserver with it as the lake was busy and gin clear so had it worked my edge would have been seen and copayed
all my fish winter time have come from white/cream baits ,as most baits appear that colour after 2/3 days in water im sure the fish arent that spooked buy them being bright, also they do stand out against the dark bottom

I know a few people that have had pukka results on zigs in winter. Sometimes it pays to be different
As far as i am concerned when you get high pressure in the winter most of the fish will be found mid water or higher. The only time i've observed them on the bottom in winter is during low pressure periods.
Well that's what my echo sounder told me anyway!! LOL!!
