Can anyone help me?

My two little brothers have been pestering me to take them fishing for the last year or two. I've now promised them when it's warm i'll take them. I was after a water where i can take them for a good days tiddler bashing that will keep them intersted as they are 10 and 6 years old, and get bored easily. Can anyone recommend a lake where i can do this (and maybe chuck a carp rod for myself). I used to know some but they have all declined or been attacked by cormorants.

Are there any good lakes like this on a group water permit? Or will it have to be a day ticket water?

Any help would be much appreciated. As i'm sure i can get them both interested in fishing. Who knows if it goes well i may even get the courage up to try and take my sister!!

Cheers
Ben

Hi Ben you don't say where you live but in the spring and warmer months if you want them to catch some nice fish and plenty of them you won't get much better than chigborough in Essex.
Its a day ticket as well as a group water
not many carp but plenty of big tench and bream
if you do have a look let me know and i will give you directions

Waters around Berkshire would be best, but at the moment i'm open to all suggestions Chigborough sounds a definite possibility.

Seeing that your in Reading try Burghfield Blue or Match Pools... Their on your doorstep and available on Day Ticket from either RMC Angling office or Reading Angling Centre.

Plenty of carp to be had from what I hear. If your not happy with the above waters, ask in Reading Angling Centre - they will have loads of info for you.

Hi Ben
Easy Waters if you dont mind paying although not much. That come to mind. Try Court Farm Aldermaston £5:00 per rod garanteed to catch carp to doubles with some bigger two lakes boili ban. Youngs Aldermaston I think its about £8:00 per day seven lakes to choose from but cant remember whats in what lake. Lakeside Garden Center, Brimpton just out of Tadley on the Kingsclere road lovely little lake £3:00 per rod. Not garanteed but some nice fish Carp to twenty plus. The boy had a beautifull fourteen and a half pound common two weeks ago in that thick fog we had. If you want any other info e-mail me any time, be more than glad to help.

Ben, Why not try fishing @ Chertsey. There are a lot of silver fish and perch in there with a few carp as well. Should be ideal for youngsters as it is deep water close in and you can catch plenty right in the margins - there is also the river to explore.

Good Luck

You could try Royal Berkshire Fishery (01344 891101) near Fifield. They have a match lake there plus a carp lake. Never fished the match lake, but there are roach etc in the carp lake which will take a maggot with gusto and also carp in the match lake!! No barbed hooks, no keepnets, no cereal groundbait or boilies but its not a bad place to drop a line. £6 a rod, I think. Give the guy a ring he is very helpful.

If you live near Yately theres swan valley, its got a couple of little ponds where theyve got a chance of catchig loads of silvers plus a good chance of catching a few small carp or tench there- thats where I caught my first carp. Not only that but the specimen lake there backs on to one of the little ponds so you can put your carp rods out with the chance of a fish from sort of mid doubles to around 30?
