Martin Bowlers '5' was from the Ouse, but no where near Passenham... a good few miles away infact.

Its on a club ticket, not a cemex one though.

Stoney Stratford USED to be alright before the EA ripped all the trees out. Martin Bowlers 5 was from the Buckingham area, waaaaaay upstream.

Most of the good ones yeah. They've done it for miles down the Ouse, right into Newport Pagnell and beyond.

I've heard Stoney has had a hammering from The EE's too, stories of nettings etc

Indeed, last year whilst I was at the Tenchfishers meeting my phone rang and it was a friend who lives right beside the river at Stony. He's a non-angler but thought he'd check as what he saw was quite odd!

Rowing down the river were 3 EE's towing a huge net behind them ... basically trawling the river Ouse.

Obviously, I informed him that no, this was not right and gave him the EA hotline number and asked him to phone the police with any details he could give them.

He called me back about an hour later saying that they were last seen lifting 3 black refuse bags into a car from the boat before driving off. He got the number plate and gave it to the police... who, did diddly squat about it!

Later that afternoon I found out that a vehicle and one of it's occupants visited the local tackle shop in Bletchley and the occupant beckoned the store manager outside to the car park. There in the boot were a number of pike from small jacks to the biggest of around mid-doubles. In broken English the guy was asking if they wanted to buy them off him!

The car number plate was taken before he drove off and given to the EA by the shop. Give them credit, they turned up Monday morning asking for more details..

So, 2 incidents, in one day.. How many are being missed?

Along with everything else the river up this end has to contend with, the illegal fishing is the final nail in the coffin for this once Great river and I'd not be to surprised if Martins fish among with many others will soon be in a pot within the next two years!

As for the trees being chopped down, yep, makes it easier to tow nets without getting snagged up ! probably been done with a grant from 'FoodAid' ;)

Barstools

Regarding notifying the EA i'm assured that they require more than one phone call to act, god knows why, but its well worth spreading the word on this one, if anything cracks off again then get as many people as possible to ring in, in that case the entire Tenchfishers fish in!
