I've been out of it all winter (earning some cash for uni) and i wondered what the score with wraysbury 2 is. The last i heard is there are only a few fish in there (100 or so). I've been round it a few times and wondered if there was going to be any work done and when? Is it possible to keep the paths on the spit/ island fairly clear cos the one over the middle got very bad last summer. What about the fallen tree in the swim near the car park (not the station one). If there are going to be any work parties then please let me know and i'll do my best to get there. I saw a couple of doubles messing about in the reeds next to the dredger a few weekends ago, has anyone else seen anything?
any help/ knowledge appreciated,
hugh

Huffy2, i've never fished or even walked around this lake so i'm probably not the best to answer this ( Ian must know a lot more than me ). However as the saying goes i know a man who has! He had caught what i believe is the big fish in there called single scale and i believe it's over forty now. As for the number of fish in there i really don't know.
Be lucky
Paul.
I ve just had my first mouch around warys2, what a lake, thinking about fishing there, the kids done the mead have done my head in and ive only been mouching about, fishing tommor through, nice idea with the wires on the bridge maybe that will them. You bet me to this post i was going to ask the same, stocking, depths of the lake , know area's for fish i did see a fish crash out, made one hell of a kodush, what it like for trouble, the pikies can you walk all the way around i seem to have got stuck with the fouth over fiith swim to the left of the train station, walked as far round as i cound work out to the right of the post office car park, what a lovely place.Any info would be much apperacitaed, would like to met up with some of the warys2 crew, any one out there, willing to met up for a mouch and a chat, PM me if you are willing.
Cheers
Horse.

I have heard from some that know, that there is a lot more in there than the anglers who fish the place would like others to know about. So I think a lot of it will be a case of getting to know those that fish there and then you will find out a fair bit more hopefully.
There are definately more fish in there than most think though. I used to fish there many years ago and I saw a couple of lumps that would go well over the thirty pound barrier so if they are still alive then they could be absolutely huge by now. This was before the lake was split in two though so i dont know which side they would be in nowadays.

This is so annoying I was dead set on fishing 70acres a couple of months ago then I went down the Fen with Jim and was quite rightly convinced to get a ticket for St Ives now somthings telling me to get on W2. There seems to be so many secrets it sounds pucka.... whats the lake like is it pretty, overgrown what are the swims like, I still havent had a look around yet can you just turn up and walk around.. does Ne1 know how many people fish it each year, How many tickets du sell each year Ian???.... Haven't been here for a bit (suspected glandular fever, 2 weeks unable to move in bed etc), but i certainly wasn't expecting to raise this much interest! Whoops should have kept my mouth shut, hey at least there's plenty of space and a few extra anglers should make it a bit safer! Ian is there any chance of moving that fallen tree enough to be able to fish that swim near the post office car park? I don't have the tools or strength to do it myself. Hopefully i'll be making another pre season rec on wednesday afternoon, good luck to everyone for the coming season, see you there...

Saw some very nice looking fish there on saturday or sunday (cant remember which!), the banks are looking much nicer now they've got some leaves on them and the paths have been trimmed. how many tickets have you sold so far this year Ian? many more than last year? I've definitely begining to notice some more people wandering around the banks recently. There was a group of 8 or nine fish feeding quite heavily, two were much bigger than the others, a comon and a mirror with a very large tail. Looks like they've spawned though, one of the smaller commons had a very distinct scale damage, only one or two, but very visible at close range. Has anyone else seen any signs of spawning, or any other fish for that matter? Whats everyone doing at the start? And how many people are planning to stay the opening week?
Also how safe is it leaving your gear in the car park while you go look for a swim, some people have expressed concerens about the saftey of the car parks, i did see the odd burnt out wreck over the winter around the place. Any coments Ian?
hugh
Like ian said, the car park is safe. All the car parks in the area are safe. The only time that you get trouble is if you leave the cars out on the road. You'll either get the pikeys trying to nick something or the kids will kick it in. Just make sure you dont leave anything in the car, cos no matter where you are, leaving fishing gear in the car is asking for trouble.
I haven't seen any fish feeding in the edge, but i've seen quite a few crashing.
Good luck on there, i know there are some real nice fish to be had.
Keep it real!!
