View Full Version : Wey navigation, Pyrford lock info?
As above. Anyone got any info on the fishing along there. I know its free fishing. Was thinking of the carp potential, if any? Also the perching potential for later in the year?? PMs welcome.
Thanks in advance, Neil.

Was at the lock today and there was a sign saying the fishing was free? Either way, any info on the fishing along there?

The Wey navigation Angling Amalgamation has folded, as it couldn't get a secretary or a bailiff willing to do the whole length twice a day everyday! So the fishing has reverted back to the National Trust, who presumably consider it would cost more to collect the day ticket money than they would make! i haven't fished it seriously for years, but there's loads of gudgeon and small silver fish, some big chub and perch. There must be the odd carp or 2 from the main river, but they'll be small and rare. The Parvis road stretch was the top chub area years ago! Apollo in Byfleet may no more.

Yes the sign is by the lock but was thinking about the fishing all along there. Just spoke to someone else who has told me the fishing is free. Thanks for the info so far chaps.
Carp wise not many in Pyrford Lock stretch, however, good Chub upstream towards Walsham Lock. There are a few Carp lower down Blackboys and White Hart stretches but not to any great size or in any great numbers.
Thanks MB5, the chubbing sounds good. Any idea about the perch down there, numbers and what sizes they go to?
Plenty of Perch in the Wey Nav but the biggest I have seen in 30 years of fishing it is 2lb. They tend to be near the flow so any outlets such as Pyrford Lock, White Hart pub and Coxes Lock. You will find them in the edge so do not fish far out rather search the margins. Good luck the fishing is enjoyable if you are not over concerned with Super Size specimens.

does anyone know if the swims just upstream from parvis bridge still produce chub , they used to 20 years ago , before they cut the bushes back :)
Do you mean the ones just down from Gudgeon Corner? The ones with the overhanging rhoddedendron bushes?
Blimey - I haven't fished there for nearly 40 years - certainly not since the motorway was built. I might give them a go when I get back from holiday - will l let you know.
