Sandy is giving them up BIG time at the moment - a day ticket angler had an unknown 30 out yesterday. For those interested a mirror but niether Tyson or the Linear!! That's 4 possibly 5 30's for Sandy now!!

Great news Paul and I think there will be a few more to come in the next 12 months or so. Wasn't Sharpes fish by any chance or might be chillys 26 from last year?

What would those fish do if a bit more bait went in ?

Ooooo sarcastic Dave, who ever claimed any expertise? It IS a runs water, always has been always will be. Like any water it can shut up shop for a while, but 450+ fish in 11 odd acres to me anyhow is a runs water, don't you agree???
Sigh!

I think it will be hitting the island bank.

Takedown

A southerly will blow directly into the no fishing bank - directly across the front of the car park swim

Southerly blows onto the Pipes bank. South westerly into the "secret" swim corner.
As for rattles and dummies etc, i only replied as i couldn't understand why Dave had a dig. Seeing as the man himself virtually lives on Sandhurst you would've thought that he would be the expert!!!! (Or at least would be able to advise on whats being caught!)

The no fishing area and the island bank are the same bank !!!
Both areas will recieve a southerley wind.

Takedown
04-03-2003, 13:58
Sorry Mate you're wrong it blows directly onto the No Fishing bank - it would be a south westerly to blow into the pipes, second pipes etc.

When i was fishing sandhurst i found that a southerly wind will blow from the road bank towards the bank which runs from the island and the no fishing area.

takedown's right (as you would expect the head bailiff to be... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif) - it was a southwesterley on saturday night - i was in the pipes and it was straight at me.....gotta remember the lake curves round from the island to the end of the no fishing bank.....

Takedown
04-03-2003, 14:07
That would be ok if the bank was straight!!! Why don't you check your facts before getting into an argument? this will show you exactly - http://www.multimap.co.uk/map/photo.cgi?client=public&x=483368&y=161087&scale=50 00&width=700&height=410

I thought the island bank was more or less where the bailiff swims are? I may of course be wrong as im no expert! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

james

obivously the wind will hit the no fishing bank first as its not as wide but it does blow into the area betweem the island and pipes swim.

you don't give up do you - that's like saying a westerly wind blows into the pipes - which of course it does but not straight at it - which is what we're talking about.....!!!!! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

james
04-03-2003, 14:12
The question was which bank thewind will be hitting.
It will be hitting the no fishing area and the bank between the island and the pipes swim.

Ta.

Nerys
04-03-2003, 16:58
LOL.... not you too...... *groan*

a wind blowing from the north west, will blow onto a south east bank... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

have a look therefore at the map + compass on multimap bovis.......... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif

obviously the exact bit of the bank it hits will be determined by the exact strength and direction of the wind, in conjunction with the local topography of the lake and surrounding area.... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif but generally onto the road bank, mainly from swims 11 down to 3, I would have thought...

tcpcrewontour
04-03-2003, 17:13
not at the north pole it wont.....it blows to the north west bank of the nothern side of the north

Bovis
04-03-2003, 17:33
Ta for your wise words... *breath*

I would go and look on multimap, however being as I have such a demanding job the very few spare seconds one gets in a day are spent on here...cos its such goood fun!

which lake, (south or sandy) do u reckons the best bet for a high twenty? i guess sandy's got more of them, but is it an easy lake or not for them?
and do u need big beds of baits, or what?

cheers, greg

Takedown

Upper twenties aren't two a penny anywhere - but for your best chance of an upper twenty or a thirty Sandy is the one. Despite fishing hard over the winter signs are that it is turning on now. As for 'big beds' of baits - define big. When they get cracking I'm sure you could do well over big beds of bait, after all there are some 450+ carp plus bream and tench in there. PVA bags did quite well last year, so tightly localised baiting works as well. When you're ready to come down give a shout on here and someone will update you as to what's working at the time.

do u mean it would be wise say in a few weeks to pop down there with 40kg of corn and hit em hard ?
or perhaps a single fruitaaaaaay ?? !

James next time you are on sandhurst (with a valid ticket) http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I would be more than happy to show you my compass and point you in the right direction. I would have expected somebody with your sailing experience to have known this maybe you were tacking and got disorientated. http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Dave,
I take it you are Nerys and Dave?
I won't be fishing Sandhurst agian. Ive done my time on there.
Yes with my sailing and boating experience i do know which way south is and that is onto the bank which runs all the way from the baliffs point to the no fishing area.
No point arguing an longer as we will never agree and the thread will just get closed.

being nerys and dave..now thats some trick worthy of applause. James u sandhurst veteran u. move on.
stop argueing which way the wind blows and just tell me if i tipping a load of corn in in a couple of weeks is a good idea or not

Cheers girlies

LOL. U know what i mean. Yes i think trying a big bed of bait could work as theres a lot of fish in there to feed.
