Did you enable deep scan...?
Did you select all files from the first menu instead of just pictures...?

Just a thought but are you selecting the correct drive to scan?
You will need to select the drive letter allocated to your card, it should be the one that has just connected.

Try 'PC Inspector - Smart Recovery'....do a search for it.
I had a similar problem and i got mine back.
I'm pretty sure it's that one or i've got another one installed which i can tell you.
One found them the other didn't..I'm pretty sure it's the one above that found them.

Hello North i recently went on a dlslr course after buying a new camera and one of the last things the teacher told us, was to format the memory cards every now and then, rather than just deleting our pictures. Apparently it prolongs the life span of the card as it completle wipes all data off the card where as deleted pictures/ files can be recovered........i think the bloke in jessops has told you right mate....dont think your going to beable to recover them unfortunatly

Ive used this program and found it OK and easy to use too, its free and can be downloaded from the the PC Inspector site at w ww.pcinspector.de/ its a German site but there is an ENGLISH version page, just click the 'EN' link at the upper top left of the home page.
If the mods allow it heres the direct link to the English page (http://www.pcinspector.de/Default.htm?language=1)

Couple of questions
How did you format the card, was it in the camera or did you format it from a pc
If the card was in the camera, which camera do you have
As far as i'm aware, formatting a card is the equivalent of a single pass erase, so data is recoverable.
The following is from Sandisk:
For functional memory cards and flash drives
If your memory card or flash drive is still functional, you can try using a data recovery program. There is a high probability that your data can be recovered after you get an error while using the card, accidentally format it or delete files.
SanDisk recommends using Rescue Pro and Rescue Pro Deluxe developed and sold by LC Technology. LC Technology specializes in SanDisk products and these programs are very reasonably priced.
www.lc-tech.com
You can download a demo version of Rescue Pro and Rescue Pro Deluxe. These demo versions will show you what files can be recovered and provide a preview of the files for some common picture file types. The demo versions will require purchase of a license key to enable the feature to save the files. This is an excellent way to see if the program will work before you purchase and LC Technologies is readily available to assist you with this program.
Here is a link to download LC Technology Rescue Pro Demos.

After you recover your data, you can reformat your memory card or flash drive and use it again.
Good luck!

Ok have had a play around my Canon S5is, took some shoots, then formatted the card with the camera software, downloaded Easeus Data Recovery from a torrent site and was able to restore the files, also looks like RescurePro Deluxe will do it as well, but need to test it full

i dont understand how you can do it with the card in the camera? when you open up the data rcovery software where do you ask it to search because obviously when u jus plug in the card to the comp there is a removable storage option to search but not if the card is in the camera attached via a usb!

You will need to install the software that came with the camera onto the Pc, that way Windows sees the sdcard as a removable storage device
