just after a bit of advice i've brought a canon g5 camera and i can't get the remote to take pictures do you have to connect it to the camera

there is a button on the top of the main camera which you push, it has a small pic of a clock beside it. when this is depressed once, it allows pics to be taken with the remote. when pressed twice, it goes over to a timer. there will also be an icon in the LCD panel highlighted when that button is pressed.

or maybe the battery in the remote is dead?

i've put a new battery in the remote still nothing and tryed the button on the top of the camera aswell thanks for the advice anyway

mods please lock all sort now after trying five batteries i finally found one that worked
