Canon EOS 50D or 550D

I'm upgrading my EOS 400D and don't know whether to go for the 50D or 550D. I'm not too bothered about the video capability of the 550D, just interested in image quality and can get them both for roughly the same price.

Does anybody have experience of both these camera's?

Any recommendations?

Im torn.

Whilst the 50D is clearly a range up, the 550D is a massive step up in tech from the 500D let alone a 400D.

The 550D shares some of the newer tech that the 7D has and that is one awesome camera.

Cost doesnt really help either, both similar prices for just the body.

What are you planning on using it for?

Using it for fishing and everyday use. Went for the 550d in the end. The 50d was just a bit too bulky and heavy for my liking for fishing use.
