View Full Version : Attaching Digital Camera to a Bank Stick?

Hi guys,

Just wondering if you know of a digital camera attachment / bracket that would screw into a regular bank stick?

I always fish on my own, but this year want to get some decent pictures and would mind a bank stick attachment for my camera.

Otherwise it's the standard camera tripod, which is heavy...

Thanks,
Si

Use a tripod.

Jessops do one for about 20 quid and weighs about a pound.

Gardner used to do one, but a small light tripod is much more stable. Option B is one of those desktop type tripods fitted sat on top of a bucket.

gardener do 2, one is just the screw thread that attaches camera to bankstick other is an adjustable one. Like they say, tripod is better.

Yes Gardener do one - I looked at these but opted for a tripod.

I got mine off ebay for about £10, when folded down it takes up very little room in my carryall.

Some advantages over a bank stick:
- Set it up and position it correctly (e.g. couple of practice shots) then it can stand back in the bivvy
- then once you have the fish ready for photos you dont have to mess about positioning and screwing things in place, just put the tripod in the correct place and your ready to go
- you can't always get a bank stick in the ground
- if you ever want to do some self takes outside of fishing you don't have to walk around with a bank stick!

Just my opinions.

I would suggest that the bankstick adaptor would be fine for a compact, but a digi SLR would be better on a tripod due to the weight of if.

They're crap imo, if you have a remote it's not horrendous but if you have to press the timer button you can knock them slightly and put your target out of frame slightly.

I use a small tripod which weighs nothing, don't go for one of the wobbly car aerial jobbies though, even worse than a bank stick

I've got the Gardener one and not had any problems, I use it on an old powerdrive bankstick to make sure it's stable.
