View Full Version : Coppermill stream
Having fished the Coppermill stream around six times from october to the end of the season and taking some nice fish i am now thinking about fishing it from june 16 and wondered if any one has any info on the size of the Barbel,Chub and perch.
Thanks Nigel

I have never fished it but seem to remember a piece in Anglers Mail about the pech in there which grow very big.
I've never seen a chub on the bank from there but seen a couple that look around the 6lb mark, the perch certainly run to 4lb and in fair numbers (my biggest is 3.5lb). The biggest barbel I've heard about was just over 10lb.
There used to be some large bream in there as well, I had one of 8lb about 14 years ago, and the roach used to run to over 3lb but I haven't seen a sign of them for about 10 years at least.
Nice one cheers. On all six visits i was the only one fishing the coppermill and only had a vague idea on the size of the fish so i spoke to the management who did'nt have a clue and the carp boys were just as bad but your info seems to tally with mine.
Thanks Nigel

Can't seem to find it in my handbook.

Its not an RMC venue, but a man made stream that flows in and out of a few reservoirs at Walthamstow

nigelk,
Gary Newland and I fished it a lot up to last year, look up his story for photo of large Barbel, worms good for Perch,
For Barbel and Chub try the going boilie as the carp lads like to feed them of off the road bridge.
Try floating your baits under the bridge, at the lower end of the Stream there are some very good Pike.

There are good fish in the Coppermill Stream. Barbel into double figures(best over 12lb), Chub to over 7lb, Perch over 4lb and Carp well over 20lb,Pike to over 20lb and some good Eels. There is nothing small left due to cormorants and since the flow from the reservoir was stopped in August 1999 is little more than a weedy canal in the summer.
So lots of potential but a rather depressing shadow of its former self.
