anyone had much sucess using these ? my fav bait is mackerel but recently bought a pack of blueys look similar to mackerel apart from the stripes and head and seem to smell twice as much as mackerel.

I have had a fair few fish on these now. Its become one of my must have baits. Tough like a Mackeral and bloody like a Lampray.

Don't think they are anything special but happy to have them on my hooks.

If I use half a fish as bait I usually prefer the tail but I have had some reasonable success using the head of a bluey! No big fish but good sport.

Good bait on some waters but very average on others.

I couldn't buy a bite on Chew last month but a local in the next swim suggested I try a Bluey as they are quite good on there. Put one on and had a fish within minutes followed by another half hour later. Second visit fished Blueys exclusively had three fish to 25lb and lost one whilst those around me blanked.

Not saying its a wonder bait or anything just gave me more confidence I think.

i had 3 pike over the weekend and despite using a 'bluey' on two rods, all 3 pike came on the rod which had other baits on. could have just been the spot, but i'm still not convinced blueys are the wonder bait

Confidence is the only wonderbait.... ;) If you are confident in something it usually works.... because you make it work.

Had a nice 17-4 yesterday on a bluey and then caught the same fish 2 hours later on half herring.

Obviously the fish was hungry and the species of fish i was using for bait didn't matter.

I use 1/2 a fresh tesco mackerel, very cheap to buy say 4, = 8 baits, and have caught most of my pike on them.

Tough skin and can lash them out and they will not come off.

Full of oil, just slash sides.

Biggest from fishers green 20lb on them. :)
