had a walk round today, does anyone know why the trees are all being cut down on the islands????
also, one for ian, is there any plans to stock these lakes in the future??? only ask cos its a pukka bit of water, just a bit light on carp....................
wouldnt this be an appealing venue with a good stock of carp????

Plenty of Carp in the lakes, just hard to catch.
Certainly one of the best Tench/ Bream/Eel and Pike waters in the RMC portfolio.
Best left just as they are, I reckon.

hiya bob,
i agree with the tench, pike & bream, but i dont think a few more carp can hurt.............dont get me wrong mate, its probably pukka for the few that do fish it, but for the size of these lakes the fishing potential could be a lot higher..............
how about the islands bob???? do you know why there being cleaned up..............
one other thing that i noticed is the amount of bread bags about.............probably the same ppl who moan about anglers that come down to feed the wild life, then just leave there litter all over the place..............maybe they think that the birds will eat the bags aswell???

Cmoncarpcmon,
The Lee Valley has loads of Carp waters, so has RMC in this area.
Just behind the 70 acre you have the North Met, full of Pet carp with names.
Why not leave the great Heritage waters alone where a fairly natural balance has been maintained.
I can tell you the 70 acre did a 35lb + mirror in the summer, and one lad had 4 carp in one night to just over the 30lbs, but it's hard, and thats just the way it should stay.
I dont know why they are felling the trees on the islands, but LVRP have a very strong Bird lobby, and I would guess it's another crazy scheme to encourage sedge growth, thus encouraging the " Bittern "
Not sure it worked at Stapleford Abbotts ?
Anyway why not fish Abbotts,Amwell,The Meads or the North Met if thats the type of water you are looking for, there are so few waters left like the 70acre's or Landgridges in the Valley.

hi bob,
fair enough mate, but im not talking about turning it into an over night easy water...........just with the shear size of these lakes, (they are really one lake split into two), i cant see that adding a few more carp will take anything away from these pits................. http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif
does anyone actually know what the carp stocks are?? (roughly) http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif
thanks for the reply ian..........

I give up, the Lee Valley is full of Carp waters, and you want a few more carp in it, even though you dont have a clue how many carp it holds ?

not having a clue, would be a bit strong bob........ http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif
i know that the carp are very few to the size of the water, or to the tench, bream, pike & eels....................
ive asked on here a few times about the stock, & never had a straight answer................at first i thought it was secret squirel...........(maybe it is???) http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif
for the last year i have walked round these two lakes on numeros occasions, watching the water & talking to anglers.............ive not seen one carp, & only been told of a few..............
admittidly ive not walked round any other lakes in the lea valley.............so i dont know how they compare (visually) to hooks marsh & seventy acre...............i do know that the look & feel of hooks marsh & seventy acre is quite awsome, these are two pukka looking lakes, with so many islands, bays & channels...............
i will be fishing these lakes next season, & il take my chances............if i wanted to fish the north met or any of the other pits local then i wouldnt be on here asking these questions in the first place......................
ive been on this site for about a year now, & in that time read much information about rmc stocking & putting work & effort into transforming good lakes into pukka lakes, rmc get more revenue & anglers catch some nice fish....................
so what is so wrong with when i walk round these lakes & see work being done on the islands, then come home & ask on here if there are any plans to stock them............ http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif
situated next door to fishers green, probably one of the most regarded stretches of river in the country......
wouldnt it be nice to have two prolific lakes................
probably not.................. http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif
you shouldnt be offended by anything that ive said bob......im not trying to ruin something you like.........but i have the right to ask any questions that i want...........its the answers that matter bob....................... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif
maybe we could have a walk round together one day??

You certainly have the right to ask and I have the right to answer.
On this site there is a big thing about heritage carp, well there are also heritage waters.
Waters with mystery, thats what the 70 acre and Landridge is all about.
Both of these waters are owned by LVRP and run by RMC, if they were to be stocked it would be the responcibility of LVRP.
But why would they want to do that, when there already loads of big Carp lakes in that area ?
There are very few lakes around the Lee Valley where the stocks of are fairly unknown, one thing I can tell you about those lakes, they hold some huge fish.
Coming on the site and asking whats in there will not get the answers you are looking for, do the leg work and the time.
Then hopefully you will be in a position to find out for yourself.

okey dokey bob, nuff said........... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Totally agree with your sentiments on this Bobby!
Save our low stock / traditional big fish waters......we all need a challenge to progress onto .............. something that will test your constitution more than most...... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hear Hear, Mr Hornegold, the voice of reason !
NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!,.......... why would you want to do that!!!!
i mean why change something that dosn't need changing,....how days the saying go,.......- if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Answer me this question.....> why do you think it needs more carp and what do the think this will achieve?
As bob already states there are so many other waters in the lea Valley with the stock of fish that you probably want to fish for.

I have to agree with this one. I want waters to aspire to...
Im currently the pround father of a toddler with one on the way. But one day, when they have both grown up a bit, I want to get out a LOT more and waters like Wrasbury, the Car Park etc certainly appeal to me. I love the idea of a low density challenge..... It brings back the days of the Carp Catchers etc....
Please dont spoil it by stocking every lake up to the brim and then letting the instant carpers on to it..... I want something to look forward to ..... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I agree on this one, its best left as it is.
Its great to see a traditional water. When I want to catch carp, theres more than enough choice from a vast range of waters. I'm currently fishing a 300 acre reservoir in Mid Wales for Pike, I love these massive waters, its a great challenge. Being new to RMC im looking forward to fishing this venue later in the year and cant wait, who knows I may even target those "elusive" Big Carp.

chill out everyone, i too luv the look of the place............i will be starting down there at the beginning of next season & will do what ive been told & do the time..................... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
so if anyone is offended by my remarks then i appolagise.................. http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif
now get back & let me out of this corner....... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif.......
One thing i will say,... is keep an eye on 'BOTH' lakes.. Hooks Marsh too..... as you know they are joint together.
Wait tell it gets warm and take a look right down the far end,...Hooks Marsh..... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif,.
thats enough from me for now.
