do you want a fixed spool or multi rod?
i've got a shakespear royalty spin that seems fine, even watched pooter land a 200lb log on 4lb line using it. Quite an angling feet :)
Berkley spinning rods are good for the money. I have a 'Phazer,' 7 foot, 12-27 gram class, nice and light for small lures for Perch and Zander on the river. I paid £30 for it, and the quality of finish and the fixtures used are fantastic for that price...

I'll second Berkley rods. i use the "cherrywood" 7ft, great little rod for small, medium lures and spinners:clap:

Berkeley or Okuma for cheap spinning rods, it's their forte.
I love Berkley stuff, their spinning rods are fantastic, as is their end tackle bits/ spinners etc. good quality stuff at very reasonable prices

spinnerbaits and swivels are very good, not so keen on the lures.

the berkely lures do have some uses
the trebles are nice when you need one in a hurry:nuts:
ive a few and they are nothing special just the average plastic crankbait

Try a heddon meadow mouse, crazy crawler, jitterbug or Ozark woodchopper in early spring ;)
Mr P, those Meadow Mice look awesome!

The shimano catana is a very nice rod, really light, casts out beautifully and is nice to play fish on. Very cheap rod too :]
