Ive used light braid in my fishing for a fair while now and have yet to use a rod that matched it perfectly......that is until now!
Just a note of recommendation for the Daiwa 1.25lb Powermesh X Avons. I got a couple cheaper than rrp. of £135.00 and they are faultless on their fighting curve and soften last minute lunges near the net even if you thought there was no more power in them.I can honestly say that using braid was not noticeable when playing a fish as the rod absorbed it all.
So,if you fish with braid or have done and thought it too harsh, and are thinking of a new Avon rod...check these out!
(Still think the Giant ones are pukka though!!).

I would like to second your recomendation of these Daiwa Eurospecialist Avons. I have used a pair of these for barbel fishing at Fishers Green all season, coupled with Berkley Whiplash braid straight through. They have been superb and great fun to play big barbel with. If you like baitrunners the 5010s I use on the river are about right for these rods. I also use these rods for river chub and perch fishing, and tench on the lakes. Good all rounders and you can indeed get them for less than RRP, usually about £ 95.
