Any one got a map of Sandhurst showing some of the features or platues/bars or is there one on the site hidden somewhere?
Were down there in a few days, so any recent info would be appreciated.
Cheers Warren
Neeeeerys??!!??
When are you down Warren? I'll pop round for a cuppa http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Will be down wiv some of the Fishing Magic down n outs on Saturday mate, around 10-11ish. Thats if it's not frozen solid!
Christ, pop round for a cuppa, geez, i'll have to sort out me kettle and cooking gear. 1 lump or 2?
Morning Warren.....
I have a map, doesn't have any features though, although we can say were *some* of them are now the weed has died a bit! What are you down for? if you want the map as a starting point then PM me or something...
We'll be down the weekend too no doubt, I sure it'll still be liquid enough although it had just started to snow over there this morning.. winds changed from the weekend though hippy, more on to a north-east - easterly...
Supposed to be a warmer night on Friday though.. we'll see!!!
Sandy has done a 14.10 bream this year Warren, we used to get a double figure bream pretty much every weekend to a carper somewhere.. even they have been quieter recently, although there was one out the weekend, as well as a 19 common, and Danny's low double mirror banked and one lost...
Who else is coming down with you?
After landing three doubles in three casts.....I then went and dropped the 'daddy' of all bream at the net whilst faffing around with it....(net caught on brambles!).
Try the 'pontoon' swim on the left...second clearing about 50yrds....possible sand hump come bar....smooth anyhow!
I was carp fishing with single baits at the time....but that was one slab I would have loved to hold up for a piccie! Dwarfed the 10lb'ers..
And with his hands as well Ian....LOL
It may be a mere skimmer for Warren, Ian, but its the biggest so far this year from there... and so the 'best in breed' in its category at this time..
I remember when chilly had one of the mirrors at 28, and was chuffed to b.o.llocks by it.... he said even though it wasn't the biggest fish he had caught, it was amongst the top fish in the lake at the time... and that would do for him...
regardless of what he had put on the bank previously, at the time (spring) he felt he'd just had one of the best carp in the lake and was grinning like a cheshire cat!
Nice to see! It got pictured in one of his features a little while later too...
Ok, ta for the info so far from everyone. Ta for the PM Nerys. Just another quickie though, how many swims on the pit?
31 swims mate....
CAR PARK BANK
1 = The Secret (ain't no secret anymore) Lovely swim.. casting at the sign post just off the out of bounds bank produced Tyson at 33lb to Tanya...had one of the Dungeness commons from here, and a 21.4 this year... I like it there unless the Cp is packed then too many lines!!!!
2, 3, 4 = Car Park swims.... 3 is V hard to get sticks in!!!!!!
5 = margins swim only really unless you have a boat.... keep it real SSSssssshhhhhh here... they're just by your feet...
ROAD BANK SWIMS
6 & 7, layby behind them... been weedy in front all year as have..
8, 9 & 10... not been fished a huge amount these ones... if you can punch a way out then OK for the plateau..
11 "The Palace" (some say the chair..) Good swim again, chilly had many of his fish from here.. good access to the plateau again if you can do 110+ (or have a boat)
12 & 13 we used to fish hard at the beginning of the season.. created spots at 30 in front of these, big bonza gravel patches... and further out of course..
14 & 15 pretty much the same.. good for getting the fish running up the centre though.. and the 30yd gravel too... common to many road bank swims is the 30yrd gravel...
16 "Pontoons" (cash's old favorite I believe???) Not fished it yet though.. dave was casting 25yds and at about 2 O'Clock last weekend to a nce silty gravel spot.. (restricted slightly by 18 and 19)
17 Corner swim, good margin spots, at the deeper end of the lake here... restricted if anyone is in 18 or 19 to some extent
NURSERY/COPSE BANK SWIMS
18 = reasonable gravel close in out in front I think..
19 = good access to the only real deep hole in the lake... you can find 11ft of water down here, quite often seems to throw a fish out...
20 I've not fished, reasonable record... can't remember many boillie captures though... some guy did well here with the method a few months ago though.. think he had a 24 mirror off it..
21 and 22 are on two side of the corner then, the corner there is lightly fished generally... we've been thinking of making one of these margins only.. or short range only, as casting gets a bit tight if there is someone in 2 out of 20, 21, &
FAR (can't think of a better name for it) BANK
22 (see 21!)
23, 24, 25 "The Bailiffs" (in name only!!) good swims for a social group... big grassy area, and three places for rods to go out.. 23 does the area in front of the Copse Bank. 24 bang 'em out in the distance (middle bar) and 23, one of the end of the Island (and you WILL get wiped by the swans everytime on this one!)
26 and 27 are the 'scilly isles' The Island Swims.. 99% of anglers on first arriving get hooked by the draw of fishing on the island.. for one of the most fished areas, it has produced, to date, almost the least fish.. they are starting to be caught from there now though... most people suffer with 'casting over their heads' syndrome here.... and shove it some 100+ out.. which admitidly does account for a few... its very weedy in front here still which makes spot finding a frustrating affair...
28, nice for fishing one into the channel behind the island, if there is no-one in 30, then cast to the end of the island too, or down to the left in the margins (but shallow though)
29 may be a margin/close range swim too yet... it can get crowded in this corner!!! depends who is in 30 and 28.. tree line worth some attention though,
BANANA BANK (the puddle behind you is the banana lake...)
30 = "Second Pipes" - end of the island (dependent on 28) or out more at range in front of the island (depends on 26 and 27)
31 = "The Pipes" The fish in the report ian put up were from here... 10.8 fully scaled and 20.4 linear.. and another 2 commons.... spots to the left, about 10 O'clock and 35, and at 12 O'clock too... the linear came from about 40yrds... loads of others on that general line too though...
NO FISHING BANK
the grassy bank backed by the fence between 31 and 1 is no-fishing... although its worth fishing up against this bank from 1....
Not all the swims are on the map yet though... I'm one out on the Road Bank.... there is a colour key somewhere, though some of those have changed slightly too now!
*ouffff* just re-red this and I've missed shed loads...however, it is 6.45, my horse needs feeding and I have a *something* to finish rolling so need my mits back..
apologies to the 100s of spots I've missed.... no doubt someone will fill some of them in on my behalf LOL
Vey impressive stuff Nerys.
Anyone would think you spent too much time there http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Seriously....very good.
Your a diamond Nerys. 100% appreciated, thanks.
Number 16.............not just Cash's favourite... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Oh god yes.... I remember.... my first fishing session on there... Me all starry-eyed *sigh* fishing the Yateley Complex for the first time.... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif How naive and innocent it all seems now... little did I know eh????
Smarts... you'd been baiting that swim for a while hadn't you? forgot about that... Mmmmmmmm.. thats it, and we got down and Cash had dropped in it... LOL.... *memories* LOL
Miller..... FAR too much time mate!!!! before long I shall be turning into a Harry Potter sound alike..... except you can fish my side of the road without a waiting list and I think I could do with just an insy bit more experience before I tackle somewhere like the Cp LOL
**Waving hand bag**
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!
http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif
KLewless
Dam good angling on my part me thinks!!!
Actually you'll find that Smarts hadn't *Been Baiting* the spot at all, he'd fished it a few times and had caught a few. I was fishing next door and had been pre-baiting that one each week for 3 weeks and was catching from there. When that one slowed and Snarts had moved on I dropped in and started catching from his swim..................prior knowledge of the spots though of course! LOL
Isn't Smarts no.1 swim though the Chair?
Cash
Hmmm....before being ousted by Mr Chillcott!! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
My biggest fish came from the 'chair'....big chuck....and my most fish from the Pontoon....
Happy *memories* indeed, Nerys!!
I remember a manic sesh with Cash where I landed 7 carp, 3 double figure bream, (and lost a beast one...think Cash was confused as to why I would be upset about that!! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif), and a couple of big tench.
We had a carp jump out with my rig when it discovered the hook.....only then did the alarm start screaming.....and Cash ended up with a cut finger from a fish that blasted off like a rocket & couldn't be held.
Cor....this is making me want to get back down there....how much for a season ticket??! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif
no-ones mentioned the other spot from 16.....that little patch of gravel under the tip of the overhanging tree to the left of the swim.....you were virtually guaranteed a fish from there in the summer/early autumn.....we've had carp to 18lb and bream to 12lb
and from 19....not only is there the 11ft hole but about 30/35 yards out, towards the secret on the far bank there's a bar....had fish to 22lb off there...again one of the places that if you put a little bag on you could be fairly confident....
that's my two faves covered....good work nerys on the rest...i'l definitely be down to see you & dave after xmas http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif....and i might see you both before then too http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Yep, I know I've missed loads!!!! But then there are always other people willing to add colour to the picture thankfully... Not fished off 18 to 22 really, although had a tench from the hole in 19 back in Jan, my first fish outta sandy that was! In the winter when the leaves are off the trees's there is a tower structure (water/telecom/???) that you can see to the right down the Road bank.... that used to be one of my marks I think down that end..
Much warmer over there today, less bitter than tuesday thats for sure!
Cash, how about you mention some of your spots then mate, ??? Add a little Cash Colour to the tour c'mon.... Even if the rest of the lake has changed a fair bit this year, it'll be fun to see if last years winter spots are there this year....
the 'chair' or Palace, is now number 11. and a big chuck from there is the Plateau...
Oh yeah.... party time eh funkster???? sounds good mate!! (as long as the fish ain't feeding u understand....)
LOL........Nope!
I don't think its has changed. Fish out at the weekend was off the plateau, where i said they would be earlier in this thread!
Creatures of habit, they'll be there, as well as the Nursery end.
I thought you knew the spots, surprised you haven't fished them.
Cash
PS: Pontoon swim, afraid Dave's way off the spots, should be more like 10 o'clock, and midday not 2pm!
Is this plateau directly in front of peg 11 or off to one side?

Towards the silver birch by swim 30 m8 http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Would you be better off fishing from peg 10 then for that?
Cash, you would hardly need to be a rocket scientist to know they were on the plateau now would you..... LOL they are always on the blo.o.dy plateau..... and if I had a bait boat I could catch 'em of there too.... I just can't cast far enough mate!!!!! YET..... On the other hand, seeing as you are *concentrating* on frimely at the moment and have hardly fished sandhurst at all this season, it wouldn't do any harm to be a bit more helpful instead of *i know it all, you are doing it wrong, and I'm not gonna tell you* ......sweetheart..... you are letting your fans down.... and by helpful I'm not refering to a plug for indian spice....
Warren, as I was saying to rik yesterday, you can hit the plateau from a number of swims.... it just depends who is where and how good a caster they are. At the moment, I don't fish 11, because I know there are people better at casting who can fish it more productively then can I...... probably easier to come down on sat, see which angler is in which swim, and take it from there....
Anyway boys and girls..... see you on the bank.....
Ooooooo touchy touchy.
Never said i knew it all and never would. There are a couple of spots that i know will produce fish, if i want to keep them to myself they why not?
Now winters here I'm dabbling on a few waters, Sandy may well be one of them. If I was totally finished with Sandy and not interested in re-visitng then of course i'd tell. No secrets, just put it quite alot of work at the end of last season and caught EVERY session, i may need to use the trump card again in the near future.
With regards to the plateau earlier in this thread did you not say that they won't be there this winter??? Thats all i was pointing out, they are and will remain on there until the pressure reaches those parts on a regular basis.
Hope you've calmed down now Miss Stroppy, can't be like that with your customers when in France!!! LOL
Next time you see Ray Varndell ask him about the topography of Sandy, he knows it better than most, seeing as he was there when it was dug!!! You'll then know where to look.

In a Thai accent - some might say Heshe!!
i'm sure il be able to "sniff" out a dodgy bird..apparently easiest way to distinguish is by size of hands http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif no worries. oh and if they go by the name bwian or woderwick is normally a dead give away

Most unfair - Cash isn't like that, he just 'wades' on in there, never does he try and keep ahead of the bailiffs!! Stop and search policy in force on Sandy for any one resembling Richard - zero tolerence here mate http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif LOL
My Waders have been retired, bless them! LOL
Cash
yeah u are lending them to me for when we go on our session together http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif i know some tasty spots that with a bit of gentle and precision placement are bound to produce !!
G
Sssshhhhhh G, can't be doing things like that! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Cash
Cash u r just such a bad influence on me fella, i session planned with u and allready u have me planning illegal moves..bad boy bad influence, if i was a weee teenager my old dot would be tellin me to steer well clear of u..
