View Full Version : Mounting Rods on a Boat

I have just bought a boat, has anyone got any good ideas as to the best way of mounting the rods onboard?
I can probably get some stage mounts made up, but is it necessary to screw these into the boat and make holes?
I suppose a rod pod would be ok, perhaps a tripod type one which has a small foot print.
Any other ideas from any members with boats most appreciated.

Will take a look. I wonder whether there are any decent tripod type pods on the market that are stable. Never seen or used one before on the banks.

Put www. at the front to make that link live. It is in french but there is pictures so you can make it out. I reckon someone like Keith at defiant MPS could knock you up something similar if you asked him.

Was thinking of Keith, but wasnt sure whether the tripod bracket would be a little too much in terms of engineering and cost to make a one off.
I dont have a huge amount of room at the rear, room for a tripod type pod probably, or some form of mounting brackets to hold a front stick only, as in reality its all I would need anyway, just to hold a buzz bar or a couple of front separate sticks.
I may be able to get Keith to make up some brackets of some kind to bolt to the side of the boat so that a buzz bar could slide into it, that may work.
Have a look on the Harris website, there are some very cheap ones that may just tide you over and there are some stupidly expensive Fox ones.
You could also have a look at either the BassPro or Cabellas websites and order them in from the States.

I think I may well do the same and get some custom adjustable ones made up of carbon from MPS.
