Right all you squirrels,
Cant let a southern trickle steal all the glory. Anyone gonna be battling the flow on the tidal this season? maybe you have an allergy to 8oz grippa leads and will be dabbling on the middle, or god forbid even the upper. No need to reveal your secrets or undo your hard work, although Im all for sharing me ;)

I thought about having a look at the Cemex stretch on the tidal but cannot find anything about it. Where about is it mate, is it near the Ashfield pegs at Cromwell or further down?
I'll be at Dunham and Sutton, Muskham if I fancy a change.

That pic of the hopper is taken in near enough exactly the same spot I caught my PB barbel!!
The CEMEX Cromwell section according to the Guidebook is opposite! With nightfishing.
I’m fancying a look this year guys but does anyone know what access is like? I don’t mind a walk if I know it’s coming!
As has been said, info is a bit limited on the site…
Cheers guys ;)

Jamiebell - which stretch have you fished and what sort of size have the fish been? I assume they are barbel that you have been catching. Toying with the idea of getting up on the Trent soon.

I fished at Carlton this week and, as last year, early season sport was brisk with plenty of bites in daylight (I fished 10am - 4pm) but all the fish were schoolies in the 3 to 6lb class plus a few nice chub.
Bit of a walk and judging by how overgrown the path to the river is and that there was no sign of the footbridge having been crossed I'd say very few anglers have fished there so far.
As Arnie says, I'll be back.
PS: Willing to swap honest info and updates on the stretch with others who actually fish there providing they are equally honest, by PM of course.
Anybody fishing Carlton stretch wishing to share info would be much appreciated as i am all new to this River job having spent most of the last few years occasional Carp fishing

Hi fellas got a question for you are the barbel in the Trent indiginous or were they stocked as in the Severn if so any ideas when ?
Any info would be much appreciated
johnnyfby
01-11-2009, 10:37
they certainly are indiginous. As far as i am aware, and i may be wrong, the majority of easterly flowing rivers have always had barbel and all westerly ones have been stocked.
proper fish them jamie and any fish from the rivers is well earnt. do you fish higher up towards burton at all? anyone have any success carping on the stretches around burton to rugeley?
despite the recent pollution!!!!
