I have a couple of these that i use as boat rods but they are very versatile and amazing action for a multi piece rod

they do look good, but i'll be after perch so they might be a bit too heavy?

I think that the mitchell 308 X will be ideal as it breaks down into about 4 pieces, this makes it ideal as a travel rod and is very soft. It also comes with the reel to match.

I've got a Shimano Exage STC mini...

Absolutely perfect for what you need - they even have a tiny carry tube so you can have the reel already set up on the rod.

I took mine to Finland and fit a small selection of lures/forceps/pliers all into the case thats about 12 inches long!

Give me a shout if you want to see any pics.

There is a new 'Bob James' series of travel rods by Fox - he put his name to some with Normark 10 years or so ago and i have one - Good rods.
Worth a look at the Fox ones.
