This is probably one for Mick but does anyone know how far the new streatch of the Coppermill Stream at Fisher Green runs to? Is it down to the ditch inlet or further on? Also, are there any plans to make the access a little more 'convenient' or are we all expected to risk our manhood on the barbed wire fence that runs along the whole length at the waters edge?

The Cornmill stream runs up to the inlet I believe, and I had the same thought when I saw the barbed wire fence. The entire stretch will be a test for those of us planning a visit next season.

Gents, styles will be put in so that there be no knicker ripping.

Thanks for the reply Paul, short arses like me tend to have a bit of an aversion to barbed wire! I've still got the scars to explain why!

Hi just one question is the cornmill stream going to be part of the fishers green ticket or is there going to be an option of a separate ticket?

Went for a walk around Fishers green this morning and had a look along the Cornmill. The fence is still there but has been moved back from the stream by about 2 feet, its all new and as yet no stiles in place. Access to the the stream from a fishing point of view is going to be very difficult indeed, unless there are plans to open it up a bit. Perhaps an update from Cemex would be useful.

Couldn't believe it ,saw the new fence that had been put up. Even been extended up to the new gate were you could of fished over the old wooden fence.

Had a look this afternoon, yep new fence, but no styles as yet ,as far as I could see anyway. There was a herd of cows in the meadow though.
So watch out for cow pats.

Is it Coppermill or Cornmill?

I guess its obvious but some call it Coppermill that confuses me with Copermill stream in Walthamstow!

Sorry to be the new kid but is this the stream that you drive over first as you go down Fishers Green Lane into the car park?

So at risk of no replies, what it like, can some kind person let me know a little about it and whats in it etc... please?!?

Can I fish it with my Fishers Green ticket?

Is this it?

Coppermill Stream belongs to Thames Water & part of the Walthamstow complex - unless things have changed dramaticaly.

Cornmill Stream is the one near Fishers Green - Lee Valley Reg Park

Thanks Ken, I didnt know it hadnt been fished for years.

I looked at it this afternoon and saw the surface alive with fish below the bridge. I drip fed some bread in and soon became clear there were loads of Roach, all between 4-6oz I would say.

So how come it hasn't been fished for years?

Who owns it, are we allowed under Fishers Green tickets to fish it and is that blasted barbed wire all the way along eh!?

The Cornmill stream is part of the Lee Valley Park, and as far as I can say it's been a long time since anyone fished it legaly. The barbed wire fence I believe goes all the way to the boundry, it's been moved back by a coulpe of feet since Cemex took it over earlier this year, but as you saw it's very overgrown. We were told that styles were being built to make access easier, but there are none yet. I asked for an update on whats being done but nothings been forthcoming in that regard.

The Cornmill Stream is part of the Fishers Green ticket.

The barbed wire has been covered up in a few places which wiil make life easier. But if you walk to the far side of the field to where the cows can get in the water, there is a small section of fence that has no barbed wire and with caution access is a lot easier there. There is a path that has been cut in the undergrowth as far as the sharp bend in the stream (which is not visable from the field) and a few swims have been cut out, even exposing some of the original platforms. There are a few rabbit warrens under foot along this path so take care.

Hope this imformation is usefull.
