Amazing fish even if it was a trouty fish, but that's something else to have come from a coarse fishing venue. Any pics Paul.

Lets just hope that there are enough prey fish to sustain them. Otherwise they will go down hill very quickly. I don't think Pike should ever be moved, they need a certain set of circumstances to grow that big, mostly neglect.

Front cover of the AT, oh and there's a 42 in there as well. Mind blowing. This fish is as important as Chris Yates' capture of his Redmire 50.

Mate i said exactly the same thing when i heard, not just that fact, but the water quality is'nt in the same leauge in their new home as where they have come from. Im not a DDAPS member, not right IMO. Apparently there was another one that was put back into lully that would threaten the british record

The fully thats gone in at upper 30 has been caught already in its new home i hear.

Nah mate, not as big as the pike, nice fish though, very heavily scaled, was a few similar i was told....

Apparently the biggest one like the pike stayed in there, jumped over the side of the net apparently....

I was'nt there, just been told so the info is 2nd hand like, got a pic on my phone of what i was told was the biggest carp

In today's Angling Times.

Biggest non-trout water Pike ever recorded in the UK.

What a fish, absolutely superb, and just to think many top anglers had written the Broads off as a big pike venue.

42lber has just gone into DDAPS Sutton along with a couple of others around the same size from the netting at Lullingston castle....

Thats outrageous, IMHO pike should never be moved from venue to venue except in the most extreme situations (ie. backfilling) a fish of that size being moved from a trout water will get caught time and again and there is a very good chance that it will die ... fact !!!

mark gary showed the picture of the fully scaled the other day nice fish it will soon become elusive in sutton

as for the pike as you say 42lb not ideal to be moving this great fish but it might be better than the other option i have been told that any pike that get landed in it's old home get killed by the trout angler's and then given to the eagle heights bird sanctury to feed the birds while im fully aware landing this massive fish on a 2oz fly rod would have been some fine angling indeed
the fish would not have been returned to the water it's obviously grown very big eating all their trout hopefully its new diet will be the massive shoals of bream that sutton holds
the one that got away ? i too heard that this was a pike of massive proportions and that it would threaten the british record perhaps this willey old fish will escape capture and live out its life as a mythical monster gorgeing on trout and smashing up trout angler's :) lets hope so

A trout fed 42 will be low to mid 30s in weeks in a normal lake.

Even a well stocked lake wont have to same stocking levels as a trout water and the pike will have to do alot more effort instead of eating 2lb trout when it feels like it.

DeanOr

Isnt there a lot of Bream in Sutton

That could be handy, But agree not ideal.

That Pike in the Broads got fat on something!

i agree it is not an ideal sittuation but the owners of the trout fisherie obviously want the pike out of their water i think they missed an ideal money making oppertunity here they could of organised a couple of piking weekends charged a fortune each year once pike anglers became aware of the stamp of fish it held a 40+ pike has to be a fish of a life time to most pike anglers let alone the big old girl thats still in there

The Thrune fish got big on time, its been knocking around for a few years, slowly getting bigger.

Trout fish get big quick, and fat. They are never "that" long or old.

Trout fish are the simmos of the Pike world :)

ARGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH dont mention the linear John, it makes me cry.....

I angled for that fish for a couple of seasons, caught his little sidekick the 8lb common twice when i had them both going in the edge, was fishing for it for 6 months after it had already been taken........

Back in the day mate there were 4, they were all moved over from the back lake when the back lake fish were being wholesale robbed for lakes over the Dartford tunnel. The common never intrested me, mates had it, i'd caught plenty of big commons, that linear though became an obbsession for me, i'll never forgive the little mug that i know took it, hav'nt seen him since, i hear he got a life membership to a certain lake

the fish in there were all mint i never saw a bad one my mate vinnie had a brace of 30+ commoms from the back lake within half an hour of each other they were truly immaculate fish the mirrors were a little harder to come by it's a shame the place has been ruined now it's a shadow of its former glory and as you say the fish were taken far and wide and as it would seem quite close by as well :( because of the size and depth of the water you always thought there was a chance of an uncaught monster in there it was a wild place though :)

That brackish salty water kept them mint mate

I lost a fish in there one day mate, i hooked it from the margins of the swamp, it went on an unstoppable 200 yard run through 3-4 big weedbeds & eventually straightened my hook in a snag well past the thumb.....

Left me shaking.....

I LOVED THE BROOK.....

Fished the back lake with my dad regular when i was 8 years old, getting on for 30 years ago......

Great lakes, cant bring myself to look over there now

you know what got me into fishing as a lad, it was seeing a huge friggin pike staring at me from the cover of AM in the early 90's. i was truly gobsmacked as a 8 year old. Never wanted to catch one of that size, but i was very impressed.

mighty impressive fish that, I see the smaller 42lb'er only got a small snipet in the paper, should have been a bit of a bigger write up on that fish me thinks!!!

I cant imagine ever catching a fish of that size from my local river!!!!

the only problem with the 'other 42' is that it was also in the paper a couple of weeks earlier at a slightly lower weight. hence its small write-up I think.
I'll leave you to work out where?!?!

Re the DDAPS fish, they were under 40lb when introduced, slightly.
