ECHO AGM & Annual Celebrations

Saturday February 28th 2009 at the Aldershot Military Stadium & Garrett Club

1500hrs The ECHO Charity Cup

Now in its 3rd year, the ECHO Charity Cup is the brainchild of footie mad Steve Fantauzzi (YAC/Thinking Anglers). The ECHO Charity Cup is a quick fire 5 aside tournament in aid of Stoney & Friends who have raised in excess of £250,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support through angling related events. ECHO is very proud to support Stoney and Friends by hosting this unique event and hopes that next year’s tournament will be well supported and just as much fun!

DHP will be returning to defend their title, the Macmillan Nurses are in training and the Thinking Anglers team are no doubt talking tactics already!

The Real Ladies team is taking shape and our money's in!!
I have drafted 8 of the finest wives, girlfriends, daughters and mothers of carp anglers across the land to field the finest Ladies team ever to play in this prestigious tournament........!!

Looking for a commentator by the way. Would like to source the loan of a megaphone or better a outdoor mic type set up.........?
Spectators would have a better idea of what's happening....who's playing etc..
Any ideas, volunteers or offers on this line would be truly welcomed.

See you on the pitch fellas!!

Clayton Barracks is a 10min walk to Princess avenue, where the astro pitches are. Probably looking at £4 per taxi??? Distance is 1.3miles

Try this

Stoney,

just thinking of the walk back after the meeting. Tend not to walk in straight lines after a couple, especially if a kebab is involved.

as for playing for Jarvy that fathead could'nt run a bath and unfortunately wont be there.

See you all tomorrow fellas.

Oh for all the fashion victims the kit we've got is LIME GREEN so we may well be blending in with the pitch, always time for cam and concealment.

Excellent to see how much we all helped to raise for Stoney & Friends.

Great stuff......

Well done all of you for raising so much money & putting your bodies on the line.

I bet some of you are hurting bad.

I used to be mustard in my youth, was persuaded to play for a certain team as a ringer few years back, it was quite a good standard........

I was sick 5 times (for real) at half time & only played 10 mins of 2nd half....

Fairplay to the lot of you

Dean, hows your knee mate, I did try and rub it better a couple of times for you. :D

Potty, Man of the match, scoring them and saving them on the line, top football fella.

Shame Dean missed those two penalties in the quarters, a bit like Tottenham all over really, I did warn him that it could be an omen with him missing those penalties and his conection with Tottenham...

PMSL!! I have trawled through 600 photos from the football and what a great bunch of nutters you are!! Between the footie and the evening that followed we raised over £1000 for Stoney & Friends on Saturday and you are all stars indeed-thank you so much.
I have been talking to Steve Fantauzzi today on how to develop the concept for next year and we have come up with an idea that I would like your comments on.
How about we run 2 tournaments side by side? The ECHO Cup for the "serious" football players and the newly devised ECHO Booby Cup for the "less serious"?
Just a thought, but I reckon this would make for a brilliant twist on what is becoming a regular annual fund raising event. The ECHO Booby cup would enable the juniors to take a bigger part, the fish net stocking lovers to have their moment of joy, the WAG's to get more involved and leave the competitiveness and the fisticuffs to those more committed to the beautiful game to compete on a level playing field.
What do you think?

DeanOr
03-03-2009, 08:02
Good idea Ruth, Top 2 from say a group of 4 go to the big boys cup and the bottom 2 qualify for the booby trophy

Take note, Potty was wearing a black leather corset tied up tight, hence the upright appearance.......

can totally appreciate where ruth is coming from but i must admitt these tournaments have been great fun in their current guise and it would be a shame to have to change it cos a few wanna be footballers cant have a laugh with the rest of us.
my son has played in the last two and realy loves the mix of having a laugh in the early stages and then trying to progress against the better teams later on,the combination is "FUN" and that should surely be the point as well as raising lots of cash for a very worthy cause. if a new format raises even more money then that of course is a good reason to look at a change as that is the whole point realy but some serious players can get into the spirit of the thing and like i said enjoy the "FUN" aspect, shame that some seem to struggle with that concept
