After recent demand from visitors to the RMC Angling website for a better Forum, we have installed this top-notch program. Included is the ability to vote on hot topics of the day, as well as lots of other facilities, which will become apparent when you register yourself as a user. You can become a user by clicking the 'New user' link towards the top of the page.

It's only down to demand that we upgraded, so if you want a better RMC Angling website, this is your chance to let us know how to accomplish it.

I find this new forum excellent but I suspect a few of the anglers who are not quite as experienced in computing etc. may find it confusing, is there a chance of writing a help file, say for instance in wordpad or notepad for the less experienced users, I know this all takes time so I suppose an alternative would be to set up a temporary section just for a while called "HELP" or FAQ ??

At the top of the page there is a link to a list of FAQ's...

Doh, silly me, A great FAQ it is too, would it be a good idea to put the FAQ into a word or PDF file to download so we can read it without being online? I know it can be printed or saved as a web page but that will complicate it for some people. It would be helpful to have it as a file as well.

When you click refresh it takes you back to the main page rather than just refreshing the screen you are on?

If you mean it takes you back to the main welcome/home page, this is because the site uses frames. To get around this, right click on the window/frame you want ot refresh and selct refresh or reload, depending on the browser you are using.

Each message board will automatically refresh itself after 60 seconds, incase there are any new message that have been posted for that subject.

Good idea to have the FAQ's as a txt file, but as we go along we may decide to change to options and the FAQ's are generated from a script that reads what options we have enabled at that time and gives the correct answers there and then (as an HTML/web page) so it saves us re-writing pages and you will let you know as soon as we do decide to make any changes !
If you look at the FAQ's now (for example) you will see that we have disabled HTML, but allow for Mark up... this may change at a later date...

If people were to download a txt file, what they have may be outdated within a day or two if things change...

Cheers,

Bill.

Agreed Bill, but maybe if you did do a downloadable file you could post that it has been updated when you update it if you get my meaning, just a thought. The FAQ is fine for me and probably a lot of other here but there are some people who maybe use the kids PC etc. who are a little less experienced with the PC who would probably appreciate the faq off line in their spare time maybe, maybe at a later date have a vote on it. Well I am impressed with the angling lines section so far, you can learn so much about the angling scene from a forum like this.

Lets see how others get on -if anyone runs into problems, I'm sure we can sort them out. There is always someone around to help anyway.
