A fish for all season's dvd
If like me you have been a frustrated fisherman this winter either because you have been snowed under with work commitments or quite possibly after the weather we have witnessed snowed in!
I hate to admit it but sometimes I could be accused of being a fair weather fisherman.
Probably like many of you,I got my winter kicks one lazy Sunday afternoon recently by slouching on the sofa with a fish for all season's dvd by Martin bowler and also the book.
Right i thought lets check out the winter section of the dvd.The plan was to greedily lap up the double dvd in one sitting which is conveniently broken into Winter,Spring,Summer and Autumn,Exactly what it says on the tin but with bass knobs on!
Well before i get into critique lets just say the dvd done the trick,
Before i could get past the Winter season and onto the spring i had picked up the crispy new calendar and in the boldest marker pen i could find i wrote down PERCH Westhampnett,PIKE Kingsmead or would it be GRAYLING on the Itchen planned for the following weekend,Then i left the calendar on the side for the missus to opportunely find it when she got in from food shopping.
My point is I had caught the bug and were not talking flu here i had just got over that!
Had it not started to get dark by the time I had got through the Winter section i wound have been off down the road to my local Yateley complex roving with my spinning gear,
Such was the enthusiasm and fervour shown by Martin throughout this epic 2 3/4 hour well made film.
I particularly enjoyed the fact that i had fished a few of the places and in some instances the same swim (non Cemex venues i might add)mentioned it the book and film(i blanked though)being that many of them were very accessible to the average man on the street.
Martin as an all rounder is a man after my own heart, however even in my dreams I don't catch fish as big as he does,Although i did smash his British record Crucian when i fished Eversley once but then the alarm clock went off before i could submit it to the record committee and i had to get up for work.
My only real criticism is why mother nature didn't make more seasons for my armchair angling enjoyment,
well i will just have to wait for the sequel!
