the magic thirty | General Carp Fishing
The Arival
we ariverd at he lake at about 9 am hoping to catch the previous resedence to gain an insite to how and where the lake was fishing.
staying in the car park we we lucky to find that all the lads fishing were close to hand an were more than willing to talk, telling us that all the fish hand come to them from the swims next to the car park, well that was it everyone was arguing over who was going to fish the still occupied pegs.
this is where the trickster comes in to play,i had already made the discision i was of to the opposite end of the lake.
I set of to find my peg and settled in to peg 11, giving me several options and awy from the main group.
TO MY LEFT
IN FRONT
TO MY RIGHT
FIRST DAY
Edging my bets, left rod went 12" from the stump, rod 2 went to the open water, the third to the island.
with the rods set i decided to investigate the margens and the rest of the lake, whilst walking the lake i found a nice little bit of clear gravel and beyond that some fish taking the odd fly of the surfice.
well i couldnt resist back to base camp out wit the floater set up out with the third rod i was going stalking.
first blood came to the second cast 22 lb mirror of the top get in .
with fish weighed and returned i went back to the spot as i thought i had seen shadows under my feet whilst playing the fish, low and behold there they were 10" from the bank in 2' of water.
This wasn't going to be as easy,i decided to feed a handfull of bait in and return every few hours.
Back at base the left rod screamed of another 22lb,what a day and it's not over yet.
With regular visits back and forth from my stalking the left rod went of again,
this was no carp i say to my self no but it was a 10' 12oz bream get in new PB , and lake record.
Then nothing the lake just switched.
FROM THE LEFT AGAIN
LAST DAY,LAST CHANCE
Up with the lark it was time for the stalk , 24 hrs in the making and my last chance.
rod and bait bucket in hand of we go.
I couldnt get the line to sit right i was only fishing 10 - 12" from the bank, rig chang trickster style.
I took 3 ft of kordas new supernatural tied a short hair on to a size 6 wide gape and added two large sinkers.
Clearing the skum with the landing net handle i lowerd in the trap and waited.
Get in of she screamed next chalange , getting it in the lake looked like the thames in flood as i the beast from the deep, 25 mins later and i was the proud owner of a new 32-13 PB !!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT A 24 HRS
